Our modern, 46-foot Dufour Grand Large from 2017 can be your holiday home for a week or more while you explore the seas and coast of Southern Portugal.
Odyssea, our Dufour 460, is a sleek, yet spacious sailing yacht with a capacity for up to 9 people with lots of extra space. The four double cabins and four full bathrooms make this charter boat perfect for a big group of friends, extended family, or several couples sailing together.
In this yacht, Dufour decided to pursue comfort and an expansive design for the selective client. The interior saloon and galley area provide tonnes of space for preparing that favorite meal or sharing a laugh around the dining table at night.
This ethos is in evidence on the topside as well. The large cockpit area and huge drop-down swim platform create a sense of space while relaxing on anchor. The foredeck and midship provide ample space to sunbathe or chat with a friend with your legs dangling over the side.
A large forward locker provides even more space to store luggage, one of our stand-up paddleboards available for rent, or extra provisioning.
This charter monohull has port and starboard helms, with new Navionics chart plotter and integrated instruments available on either tack. The self-tacking foresail makes tacking and jibing surprisingly easy on this size of sailboat.
With a 2.2m draft, your sails set right and our predictable land breeze at your beam, you can cruise between ports at a comfortable 10 knots without being overpowered or spilling your drink. The single rudder gives you near-instant maneuverability, even in tight spaces.
Departing from the Portimão Marina, there are beautiful anchorages just across the channel or on the far side of Praia de Rocha. Within 30 minutes, you can be on anchor beneath the historical castle of São João de Arade, next to Nau beach bar and restaurant with live music, or just a little further, surrounded by delicate spires and empty beaches that dot Ponta D’Arens.
Less than a half day’s sail away, Alvor bay is next on a Westward passage. Is the perfect anchorage if you get some unseasonal Southwesterlies. Here, the fine, white-sandy beaches only appear at low tide and are private to those on anchor nearby.
Lagos Marina, located just across the channel from the old town, is perfectly located for a break from the sea and a day or night on land. This maritime town has over 2000 years of history with now visible city walls being built by the Moors in the 8th century. You can also visit the oldest church in the Algarve as well as enjoy delicious fresh seafood at the lively Adega de Marina – a local favorite.
The last stop to the West of Portimã, (and before the Americas) is Mareta bay near Sagres. It is protected from the prevailing winds by Cape St. Vincent with the imposing Fortazela de Sagres sitting atop. It is a perfect spot if you want to dive on its hidden underwater caves or visit Parinha Das Poças, a deserted beach that is inaccessible from land.

Book now and make this luxury sailing yacht yours for a week, (if you prefer, we also do day trips).
On a weekly charter, you can also head East from Portimão and sail along the beautiful sandy beaches around Albufeira and Vilamoura. In this area of the Algarve, you’ll find some of the best fine-dining restaurants in Portugal. Further East, close to Olhão and Faro you’ll discover the immense Nature Park of Ria Formosa. This Nature Park hosts many islands, some inhabited and others not, and unique flora and fauna. From nature-lovers to culture-seekers, Portimão is the perfect starting point for a yacht charter in the Algarve.
