At the furthest East of Portugal, you can sail up the Guardiana river from the Marina of Vila Real de Santo Antonio. This acts as the border between Portugal and Spain and can be safely navigated upriver 40 km to the castled town of Alcoutim.
Further West, anchor inside the lagoon formed by the barrier islands that make up Ria Formosa National Park. Visit the small fishing community on Culatra Island, or explore the narrow cobble-stoned streets of the historic town of Olhão on the mainland.
Close by, Vilamoura Marina boasts the best international marina of the year award in 2021 from the Yacht Harbor Association.
